This policy explains what personal data Plan & Gift collects, why, and your rights over it. We aim to collect only what we need to run the Service.

What we collect

Account details: your email address and display name.
Content you create: wishlists, items, events and their details.
Guest details: if you reserve a gift, contribute, or RSVP as a guest, the name and (optional) email you provide.
Technical data: basic logs and diagnostics used to operate and secure the Service.

How we use it

To provide and maintain the Service, show your content to the people you share it with, send transactional emails (such as invitations, RSVP confirmations, contribution receipts and password resets), and keep the Service secure. We do not sell your personal data.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to run the Service, including cloud hosting and database, email delivery, and product analytics to understand how the platform is used. These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.

Cookies and local storage

We use an analytics tool to understand product usage, and we use affiliate links which may place tracking cookies to award us a commission if you make a purchase. We do not use cross-site advertising tracking technologies. We use your browser’s local storage for things the Service needs to work:

Authentication token: keeps you signed in (up to 30 days for accounts, up to 1 year for guest sessions).
Guest details: the name and optional email you enter when reserving or contributing as a guest, so forms can be pre-filled next time.
Your reservations and contributions: which gifts this browser has reserved or contributed to, so we can show them back to you and keep surprises hidden from wishlist owners.
Theme preference: your light/dark mode choice.
Wishlist passwords: if a wishlist is password-protected, the password is kept for the browser session so a page refresh does not re-prompt you.

All of this stays on your device and is only sent to us where needed to provide the Service. Fonts are served from our own domain; no font or asset requests are made to third-party services when you browse. Product images you add from other shops may be loaded from those shops’ servers until we have stored a copy.

Retention and your rights

We keep your data while your account is active. You can update your details or delete your account at any time, which removes your account, wishlists, events and their data. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export or erase your personal data.
